I used to use Skype all the time, and to be honest, I was happy with it as well. It wasn't until JB suggested I try out Discord, I gave it a go and literally don't think I've signed into Skype since.
I was never a fan of Skype henceforth why I was always using programs like Mumble. I only made the switch to Discord because everyone I played Battlefield with naturally switched over. I really didn't care for it at first because it was quite buggy. Obviously Discord has since addressed issues I experienced about three years ago.
Skype used to be my go to platform for communication, but now without a doubt its Discord. Skype internally needs to be redone. The way it works is behind in terms of what a more 'modern' standard would be. Discord puts security first and overall is a fantastic platform whose developers are interested in community feedback and do not give off the giant corporate vibe that other platforms do.
Discord for many of reasons, it has a friendly client protection. You feel like your're safe on there.
It's not like #DDOSCity - Skype but I use Skype for business calls to speak to my dev team.
Discord has better rewards/system compared to Skype as we all know.
Skype was only good during their introductory period where everyone got 1 year of free calls (land lines). After that it was just an average VOIP program.
Discord for sure as it has more features suited for gaming. I remember the good old days just chatting with friends on AIM, crazy how much the internet has evolved.
Discord has a user-friendly experience, especially with the UI. Skype has known security and privacy issues. Huge bottleneck on your computer. prefer Discord.
