Don't you just miss the old Rockstar? Lots of people these days unfortunately don't have the luxury to experience the 2000s in gaming unless they're collectors or they grew up playing these classic games and took great care of the discs, the system they played them on, and never sold them. What I have here ladies and gentlemen, is the ultimate starter save for the original PlayStation 2 version of Grand Theft Auto III, yep. This version was released on October 22, 2001. I heavily modified the save on my computer, transferred it over to my jailbroken PS4 Pro, extracted the memory card data and imported to CUSA03508, and then tested it on my PS5. I also put the save file on my PS2 memory card with Free McBoot. Not only did I grow up with old gaming systems, but I'm also a big collector so of course I have the launch model PS2 (SCPH-30001). I will be giving you details of everything you need to know about what makes this save so special and how you will reach platinum easily.
Slot 1: The first save is what you will mainly be using and you'll be able to earn lots of trophies with it but mostly story related. Claude will start in Portland with a BP, EP black and red Banshee. Yes, every car is explosion proof, bulletproof and collision proof. Once you reach Staunton, you'll have access to two Stingers, an original and a Yakuza version and they will both have unobtainable colors. The garage in Shoreside Vale will have the Infernus and Cheetah. You will not have the Colombian Cartel truck because at the time I made the save, I chose not to add it due to my personal preference of which vehicles I loved the most to have in Claude's car collection.
Yes, the Cartel Cruiser would've been great for people who wanted to speed through "Waka-Gashira Wipeout" without risking death, that mission shouldn't be too difficult for people who played it before. That truck is great but I didn't have it on my list of vehicles that I wanted in the garage. All weapons are unlocked too so just about every mission will be a fun breeze, especially for veterans who've been playing the game since the early 2000s. Just so you know, I uploaded slot 1 as a PSV file on GameFAQs too for people who want to play it on PS3.
Slot 2: The second save is most important for trophies that aren't really focused on the story but more for collecting hidden packages, doing import/export, vigilante, firefighter, paramedic, taxi, rampages and unique jumps. There's only one rampage left in Shoreside Vale, if you just look at the GTA Wiki page you will find it. The last unique jump is at Francis International Airport, check GTA Wiki and you'll see it. I hacked the save for hidden packages too but you can still collect 99 even though you already have 101, so pick up one more package and the trophy for that will pop.
One more passenger needs to be dropped off in the taxi. Vigilante should be easier because you only have to deliver one or two more emergency vehicles which are the Enforcer or the Barracks OL, you could also just grab a cop car and keep pausing the game to get the suspects to stop running away from you. Firefighter may be tedious and that's the only thing you may find annoying. Paramedic will be very easy because once you reach Staunton, you'll have the Ambulance in black and it'll be EP and BP. The garage in the second save is a little different so you start in Portland with the Cheetah in a beautiful yellow (changed from a Taxi), the other vehicle in the Staunton garage is a black Sentinel, and Shoreside garage have a beautiful bumblebee Banshee, an orange and black one, and also a yellow Stinger.
Below you will see various screenshots of my save file migrated across 2 different generation consoles, my PS2 and then my PS5. It will prove that I'm using the same save. Now you probably want to know if I'll make the starter save for Vice City and San Andreas right? Already done! But I will not be releasing them to the public right now because I want it to be a surprise. What I will do is provide you guys with sneak peek screenshots of the save files for VC and SA, but I won't give any other details besides what you see in those screenshots for the time being. Tommy has max money and most of the best weapons, my boy CJ has the cop outfit unlocked with max $$$ and a SWAT van.
I left a video in the download file for anybody who is out of the house and just wants to see everything in slot 1 before putting the save on their PS4/5.
Enjoy replaying GTA 3!
