Ok after a great deal of research it is not possible to modify Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Save Files as the Game uses multi layered encryption and zlib compression.

Al-tho Save Wizard can extract the individual save slots, the save files themselves remain zlib compressed.
Therefore without an external tool that can inflate/deflate the save files editing is impossible

So Save Wizards internal Codes are all that is available.

And yes I did try multiple zlib tools, none of which could read the ps4 saves. So that' s all folks....

So I've bee trying to Edit Squall's Magic Slots to insert Unobtainable Spells Like "The End"

The problem is that Save Wizard's Advanced Mode is only loading the 8KB Header File and not the Main Save Data where all the Character Data is Stored, So I cannot search for Squall's Magic Slots

I have tried multiple different Search and Replace Quick Codes and Direct Insert Codes all of which have failed. The address for Squalls Magic Slots (00077818) is shifted. in order to correctly inject spell ID's and Quantitys I need to find the correct address. Since Save Wizard is not loading the Main Save Data this is basically impossible.

If anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated.

I did this on the original PS1 Using an Action Replay Cartridge, and 1 shotting Ultima Weapon with "The End" spell was a lot of fun, I would love to re live those retro memories.

I was Wrong, the zlib compression i was told was a myth, A Wild Goose Chase. The PS4 Save Data is NOT Compressed.

However the different Versions of the Game use diffenent files sizes, the 2013 Steam version is 3kb, The PS4 Remastered Version is 8kb while the Remastered Steam Version is 132KB So to transfer Saves between the Platforms you need to copy past the actual save data in to the target platforms Save File using hex editors and make sure it is correctly alligned.

This morning I Successfully transferred a modded Steam Remastered Save to my PS5 pro and the Game loaded the save with no issues.
So it is now possible to Transfer, Edit / Mod FF8 Save Files between PC Steam and PS4 / PS5

I will be creating a Starter Save for the PS4 / PS5 Remastered Version that has all the High End Magic Spells from the Start including normally unbtainable spells like "The End" and "Apocalypse" and many others. If your Interested, Let me Know
