After I re-signed the save file and transferred it to my console, I distributed skill points as I saw fit, and if, after distributing the points, I didn't go to the checkpoint, but turned the game off and on again during the process, all the previously distributed skill points would be reset, as if I hadn't distributed anything. Question: is it just me?

Did you try going to the checkpoint so your game actually saves?
